Group A - St Vincent's
1 - 0 River
A Strong wind played havoc in this tie and influenced a proverbial game of 2 halves. St Vincent's with the wind at their backs in the first half could not break down a resolute River defence. Second half was the reverse story with River unable to use the wind advantage to their favour. However St Vincent's booked their semi-final spot, when Donal Corrigan crossed from a free kick for Martin Fadian to score against the second half run of play. The result also sees River taking an early exit out of his years competition.
Group B - DVDs 3 - 2 Currane
In what was the match of the day, both DVDs and Currane did enough to make sure that they both progress to the semi-final. Gerry Cafferkey opened the scoring for Currane with a penalty early in the first half. Daniel Sweeney followed up with a second on 32 minutes to send Currane in at half time with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Second half the DVDs hit back with Jason Forry scoring on 48 minutes. A Currane own goal by Tommy Joyce on 68 minutes set up this match for an exciting finish. Sean Grealis secured the points and top spot in Group B for the DVDs with an 80th minute goal. Both teams now have to await the toss of a coin which will decide their semi final opponents from Group A. Currane will play the winners and DVDs the runners up.
Group A - St Pat's 6 - 1 Kildownet
St Pat's already with one foot in the semi-final confirmed their place with an emphatic win against Kildownet. Michael J Fadian headed St Pat's into an early lead on 3 minutes Kildownet however equalised on 16 minutes with a headed corner form Sean Joyce.
Michael J Fadian followed up with a second goal for himself and St Pat's on 25 minutes with Martin Calvey adding a third 10 minutes before the break.
St Pat's, 3-1 up at half time came out second half again at full throtle with Eamon Gallagher adding a fourth within 4 minutes of the restart. David Cattigan on 65 and Dennis McNamara on 75 minutes rounded off this high scoring match. St Pat's together with St Vincent's will await the toss of a coin in order to decide which one of them will win this group and play Currane and which will take on Group B winners DVDs.
