Achill Rovers U12s celebrated late into evening after picking up the Division 4a Championship Trophy this evening following their 6-2 win over Ballina Town C.
Tommy Mullens, Chairman of the Mayo Youths and Schoolboys League presented the team captain Ruaidhri O'Sullivan with the Division 4a Shield, after which the whole squad went on an inpromptu lap of honour of the Valley pitch.
Following the on field celebration, a large convoy of vehicles went on a victory parade round all the villages of Achill Island. The celebrations carried on well past 11 0'Clock in the evening.
Congratulations go to all the squad who have done Achill Island proud. Congratulations also go to team managers Jim Wiley and George Collins on a job well done.
Rovers under 12s have won every league game so far this season averaging 5 goals per game and only conceding 6 goals so far in the whole campaign. Their best result was the home game on May 1st against nearest rivals Castlebar Celtic C who they beat 10-0. Brandon McGing is so far top scorer having scored 15 of Rovers 51 goals.
